So first off when I got microsoft office: mac '08 I was pretty excited about the notebook view. I shall first describe my journey in the notetaking world. Now, don't get me wrong I am not particularly an adobe fan, *cough* flash *cough*, but I must say that I tried out adobe acrobat pro and I can see how it can be incredibly useful for students. I've looked at and in a sense reviewed a wide variety of products ranging from the built-in word "notebook" view in mac office '08 to skim to circus ponies notebook for mac to skim and just recently I got a copy of Adobe Acrobat Professional and I must say I have been blown away by the kinds of things you can do with it, in terms of notetaking. I have been using Mori (and its predecessor, Hog Bay Notebook) for years, but it's time to move my data out of it.As a student, I am naturally interested in note taking products. Or you could buy DevonNote which is very similar to Mori - and much faster - but only costs $20. There are many programs in this price range that work better and are made by people who know what they're doing (EagleFiler, DevonThink, Yoyimbo etc.). (It beachballs every few seconds when I try to type a note in a 20 MB database.) There have been no new features since 2006, and worse, Mori has serious performance issues under Leopard.

Not much has happened since then: Apokalypse Software, as the new guy calls his business, has released a slew of rambling blog posts and a few minor bug fixes, but every one of these bug fixes introduced new bugs that had to be fixed in subsequent updates, and so on. It's been 9 months since the original developer handed this program over to another guy (after losing interest in it and moving on to projects like WriteRoom). but there is zero developer support or development on it now, and this has been the case for at least six months. If the Apokalypse doesn't want to work on Mori - fine - but find someone who does and sell it to them at least. Evernote covers a lot of the ground Mori did as well - I just don't want to put critical data out there on it. DevonThink rolled out a 2.0 version of their product. Meanwhile there are all these great new to-do apps and calendar apps and so on and so forth. In fact, I think it was the first Mac app I bought (back when it was still Hog Bay's).īut the new developer hasn't done squat other than announce that the upcoming (whenever that is) "Pro" version will be 200 freakin' dollars. I use(d) MyInfo for years to hold all my various info (many, many, many websites), when I switched to Mac, I needed a replacement - Mori was it. I really like Mori - it's as close to the Windows app "MyInfo" as I could find.
